Video Poker is the digital version of the original Poker card game. It is a casino game based on the five card draw poker. It is played on a computerized console similar in size of a slot machine. Most of these Poker machines are embedded with a specialized CPU which acts as the brain similar to the ones found in the home PCs.

The earliest models of Video poker consoles appeared in casinos in the mid-1970s which also saw the launch of personal computers. The first Video poker machine was built by Bally Manufacturing Ltd in the year 1976. The earlier consoles were quite primitive in nature compared to the ones available today. This game was played on black and white screen.

The color version of the game was launched by the Future coin company just 8 months later. Video poker machines became quite popular with the launch of the electronic poker popularly known as Draw poker which was a widely popular card game in the year 1979. This concept of electronic poker machines was popularized by a company called SIRCOMA or Si Redd’s Coin Machines which later became known as International Game Technology Inc.

The 1980s saw Video poker becoming increasingly popular in Casinos across America. During this period a poker player could find poker machines virtually in every casino. Since then a number of Casino goers prefer playing Video poker compared to playing the original version mostly because it is less intimidating than playing the same game on tables.

Video poker has gained a lot of prominence in many local casinos especially in casino hot spots such as Las Vegas. In 1994, Micro gaming began to introduce Video poker games as well as a variety of other online casino games. Today video poker machines on the Internet offer a variety of ways of playing poker with jackpots amounting to thousands of dollars.

The popularity of the Video poker has steadily increased during the last quarter of the century and it can be found in majority of casinos across the world. A poker player even has the advantage of playing Video Poker on a number of online casinos on the Internet. These casino websites even offer a number of variants of Video Poker to their poker players.

Certain online casinos such as VideoPokerBuzz even offer their players a specific video poker strategy which helps a poker player improve his stakes of winning the game. These games can be played with better graphics and a higher resolution which enhances the average poker player’s gaming experience.

A recent survey conducted by an independent research firm found that a poker player had better chances of winning bigger cash rewards in Video Poker than by playing the traditional version of the card game.

Video Poker machines in casinos are regulated by state or by NIGC also known as National Indian gaming Commission which is an independent regulatory agency within the Department of the Interiors. Video poker machines are tested regularly to ensure whether all of the machines are compliant to the present standards.

Video poker is one of the most popular casino games in the world. You can play it in the casino or you can play it on your computer, you have the choice. Now I must ask, why not play it for fun and make some money while doing it? There is no reason you can’t do both, we will show you how.

Are you a recreational player? Or do you take it more seriously and want to profit from video poker? Either way, the tips your about to see will help in both cases. Remember, your up against a computer, it’s a machine that can out last you physically, mentally, and financially.

Tip 1 – Comfort. You need to play in a casino or place at home where your comfortable. In most casinos, you have many video poker machines to choose from. If crowds, noise, smoke or just the place itself bother you, go somewhere else. If your focused on your discomfort, the odds tilt even more in the casinos favor.

Tip 2 – Go for Big Hands You know that these machines are programmed, right? The short version of this segment is if you have 3 cards or more on the first deal that give you the potential for a big hand, go for it. Now, if your dealt 3 of a kind or a high pair, don’t. This is especially true if your on a paying machine.

Tip 3 – Strategy. If your playing with no strategy at all, well, your the person the casinos loves to have play. Even a basic money strategy is better than none. The odds built into the video poker machines are already heavily in favor of the casinos. You can only tilt the odds back in you favor with some unique strategies.

The casinos want you to play, have fun and lose. How about that, this is like I want you to come over to my house and eat, have a good meal and get sick, sounds like fun.

You will have more fun playing video poker if you win.

To find out about a winning strategy, go to the Winning Video Poker Strategy for all players. I’ve played video poker for 5 years here in Las Vegas. It doesn’t take long to see how the casinos make so much money from the unsuspecting players. You can change that, have fun winning.

Gambling addictions are a problem amongst those with an addictive personality. Many people can safely gamble and know when to stop. Many others earn hundreds of dollars with their skill in games like Video Poker. The problem with the game is that if you aren’t face to face with other people, you are more likely to keep going. So many individuals believe that since there isn’t a real person in front of them, that they can outsmart the system.

In reality, it is not possible to outsmart the video poker machines. They are designed to work a certain way, and just because it is automated doesn’t make it susceptible to failures on a regular basis. In some casinos video poker is still played with other people, but instead of a pit boss you sit at a large poker style table with a big screen that tells you information.

It is important to mention that gambling is not wrong, or should be illegal. It can be a healthy way to have a little fun, assuming you are responsible. If you are just learning to play poker, do not jump into the game right away with high stakes. Start off small with friends or learn before going to casinos. Place small bets if you want to use money, but otherwise learn on your own to avoid losing tons your first try.

If you are a seasoned player, you probably already know the ins-and-outs of poker playing. You can probably read “poker faces” and you know all of the cards and odds of winning. This is a good thing, because you probably win quite often. This is where it becomes tricky; maybe you decide to challenge yourself with video poker for a change of scenery. When doing this you must set limits for youself. It is easy to put in your tokens or dollars and give your cash to a machine – but it can be damaging.

Instead of staying in the casino all night, set yourself a limit to only spend a certain amount. Don’t bring extra money with you, and employ a friend to keep you focused on not blowing your life savings. If you feel yourself feeling too involved in the game, walk away.

As always, if you feel that you have a video poker gambling problem, seek help as soon as possible. In places like Las Vegas there are plenty of people that can help you avoid spending too much money or falling into a serious mental conflict with video poker games. They are there to help, and there are plenty of resources for you to utilize.

Remember that prevention is key. If you know that you will likely do the wrong things, then step back and keep yourself from spending too much or getting too risky with bets. This will help you enjoy poker still, without losing your family, friends, car, or even your house.

When you first walk into a plush casino, one of the things that will instantly draw your attention is the slot machine. These traditional gambling machines make up about 70% of a casino’s income. When you combine the appeal of the traditional slot machine with the modernity of computerized games, video poker is what you will get.

Based from the casino game five-card draw poker, the game is played on a console similar to a slot machine – only it is computerized. From the 1980s onwards, it has grown in popularity and has now even extended in scope as an online game.

Video Poker: The Basics of the Game

To have more of an idea about what it is all about, let us learn about the gaming basics. Unlike with slot machines where you simply need to wait for a row of identical icons to show up, this poker game requires you to use your card playing skills in a slot-machine-like environment.

Before delving deeper into the details of how to play it, what exactly are the benefits of playing the game? Aside from allowing you to practice your skills in poker, your chances of winning are also increased because the edge of the house is much lower as compared to slots. Also, there are no other players who can intimidate, dictate or influence the way that you are playing the game. It’s just you and your poker game skills.

Now, there are a few variations of video poker that you can play. Take your pick from playing the game using the standard 52-card deck; or a 52-card deck with additional wild cards. Since all the variations of video poker are based on the traditional poker hand ranking principles, it is a good idea to sharpen your skills at this card game first.

Video Poker Rules & Tips

When playing video poker, start by choosing the coin value and decide on the number of coins that you would like to place as bet. Click on ‘Deal’ and five cards will appear on your screen. At this point, you have the option to discard some of the cards or all of the cards and replace them with new ones.

Whether you lose or win will be determined by the outcome of the second draw. The video poker machine will display its payout table and the minimum hand qualified for a payout depends on the individual gambling machine.

So what are some of the tips that you need to keep in mind when playing video poker? If it is your first time to try the game out, make sure that you have a basic knowledge of poker as a game. Choose the machine which offers the highest return; hold on to a pair instead of keeping a high card; and you can even practice the play money mode before betting real money.

Remember that the odds in video poker are the same as the traditional poker game – so if you’re good at the game, you might want to give video poker a try.

Would you like to learn about the best techniques and strategies on Video Poker Rules? The best way that you can accomplish this feat is by spending as much time as you can playing at a Kid Friendly Hotel in Las Vegas of your choice and increasing your chances of winning at the same time!

Perhaps you are one of those people who has always wanted to learn to play poker, but did not have a clue how to go about it as none of your friends played or you didn’t want to look foolish or be taken advantage of while learning the game. Well now thanks to the internet and the hundreds of online video poker casinos, it is now possible for you to fulfill your dreams of becoming an ace Video Poker player! Playing online video poker is a breeze! No worries if you are a newbie to the game, there are lots of tutorials with step by step instructions to help you along the way. Everything you ever wanted to know about playing video poker is available on these online video poker websites, and best of all, get this — they all offer free video poker games for you to practice your skills as you go along. Now how easy is that?

Now we come to the hard part, choosing the right online video poker casino. Believe me there are so many to choose from that this can be somewhat overwhelming. Well not to worry, you can check out the video poker online casino reviews to see which ones the experts are raving about and which are not getting such good ratings. This should get you on the right track to making a wise choice. If you’re looking for more direct advice you can follow the links in my signature below and you’ll find my own personal reviews on video poker casinos and online casinos in general. Most video poker players would tell you that when choosing a video poker game your best choice would be to choose one that pays the highest jackpot for the smallest wager, which when you think about it sounds great, as you invest less but get more for your money.

Video Poker is very similar to regular slots machines games, in that they are all programmed with a computer chip which generates randomly selected numbers or cards as in the case of video poker, and is directly responsible for the final result of each spin or deal of the card as the case maybe. They are both displayed on a screen similar to your computer monitor or television. But wait; there is a big difference between video poker and your regular slots machines games; video poker is usually referred to as a game of skill, because players are required to make some personal choices which will directly affect the final outcome of the game. (eg. Hold or not hold a certain card). With regular slot machine games, no personal input is required by the player simply insert the number of coins you want to wage, spin the wheel and that’s it, the machine does the rest for you. Playing a game of skill is a great advantage over games like the previously mentioned slots or roulette because you can affect the game whereas with the others you rely primarily on luck for a win. Have fun learning to play video poker and good luck!

Many players go in for various video poker games for their high technology graphics, innovative animations and wild sounds. There are various video poker games available now in casinos. The list includes jacks or better, deuces wild, all American, joker poker, bonus poker, joker’s wild and king of the decks. Though all the video poker games involve standard cards to play with, the difference lies in the payout strategy and the number of decks each game uses for its play.

Every video poker game has an individual payout table in which it lists the payout for a full house and for a royal flush. According to the website poker-king.com, “jacks or better” is the most popular amongst the video poker games and has a payout of 99.5%. This game is comparatively simple to play and gives an experience that helps to play other complicated video poker games.

Jacks or better has a good payout table making it a good paying machine and it has good full house and flush payouts. For example, for a 9/6 payout table on full house the player gets 9 counts and on a royal flush, he gets 6 counts. This videopoker game involves five cards and uses a single standard deck of 52 cards. The player starts with inserting a coin and pressing the play key. A set of five cards appear on the monitor .The player can hold any card and any number of cards. After he holds the desired cards he presses deal button, all the cards tend to shuffle except the held cards. When the whole set of cards make a deal the player wins and collects his coins or points. The maximum win is obtained when you play all five coins and royal flush.

Deuces wild uses the standard single set of 52 cards. In this video poker game, all the 2’s, that is all four deuces are considered as wild cards. This becomes a bonus to the players and increases the probability to make a full house. The minimum rank for a winning hand is three of a kind. The key rule here is that one should never discard a deuce.

Joker’s wild involves a complete set of standard 52 card deck. Here joker is taken as a wild card. That is this joker can be used to substitute any other card. This becomes a bonus to the players and the chances of a winning hand are increased. The minimum rank for a winning hand becomes two pair.

Another type of video poker games is the king of the decks. It uses 5 decks of a standard set of 52 cards. The game here is to collect 5 kinds of clubs. Since this videopoker game involves a large number of cards the probability of a win comparatively is less. But on the complete collection of all 5 kinds of clubs the game is over and you win the jackpot. The threemost popular video poker games according to the poker-king.com website are 9/6 jack’s or better, 10/7 double bonus, and full pay deuces wild.

You might be misled by people to believe about the existence of an easy quick guide to win at video parker. But the fact is no such way exists. Learn the strategies the traditional way in order to win at video poker, win at online casino games. There is not much difference between poker played on table and that played online. The electronic poker has the same rules. A great recreational site I came across is http://www.cmminformation.com.

It entirely depends on the strategy and anyone be it a professional or an amateur has to learn them. These poker games are not like those Nintendo games where in you sought for your opponents head to wag to beat them. These games are programmed and designed pretty robust and there are no easy tricks to win.

I don’t say that winning is an impossibility at video poker. The winning strategies can be learnt just like any other version of this amazing card game. You only need to have a thorough knowledge of the strategies. Unfortunately, these are complex mathematical strategies.

The old gambling songs is true as it says “you have to know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ‘em, know when to walk away and know when to run.” You have an option to walk way while trying video poker. You never have to run but it all comes to the strategy about the thing.

The initial task to perform when you wish to win at video poker is the study of some basic mathematics. Yes, math. Trust me; a strong foundation in statistics can help you more than anything else in winning at poker. Regardless of you wishing to win at video poker or gain entry at the World Texas Hold ‘em championship, its good to know the odds and conditions when to bet. Every single player around the table at a World Series of Poker game is definitely a math maestro. You have to match them if you swish to win at video poker.

Video poker has been around for over 30 years. It started out when casinos noticed that many people liked to play cards but were too scared to actually sit down at a poker table. Video poker allowed these players to play poker without having to look their opponents in the eye. With the explosion of online casinos Video Poker’s popularity grew exponentially. This growth in turn led to the development of new versions of video poker. Here we’ll take a look at some of the more important developments in the video poker world.

1. Multi Hand Video Poker

Multi Hand Video Poker is like “normal” video poker on steroids. As its name implies, you’re playing more then one hand at a time. Common variations include Jacks or Better (of course), 10′s Or Better, Deuces Wild and more. The Games come in 4, 10, 50, and even 100 hand versions. Multi hand video poker is an exciting twist on standard single hand video poker. Today, most online casinos have at least one multi-hand version.

2. Power Poker

Power Poker is Microgaming’s version of Multi-Hand Video Poker and is probably the most popular multi-hand version on the web. Currently there are 11 different Power Poker Games in 4, 10 and 50 hand versions. Playing Power Poker is like playing the single hand version of the game. You start with the same 5 cards in each hand. You then select the card(s) you wish to hold. The remaining cards are discarded and new cards replace the discarded ones. Winning hands are determined by a redefined payout schedule.

3. Progressive Video Poker

Progressive Video Poker is yet another exciting variation of good old video poker. Progressive Video poker follows the same rules as a non-progressive version of the same game. The difference is in the payout of the royal flush. Often times, progressive jackpots build through multiple casinos, so potentially the pot can be huge. When playing a Progressive machine, it’s crucial to play the max coins on every play, that’s the only way to win the jackpot.

4. Online Poker Rooms

Online Poker is not technically a video poker; however, since there are obvious similarities between the two, I felt a brief overview should be included here. In video poker you are playing against a machine, winning and losing hands are determined by a static payout schedule. However, when you’re playing online poker, you are playing against real people. There is no predetermined payout schedule, you can win as much as your opponents are willing to wager on each hand. Also, and more importantly, Online poker allows you to bluff, meaning in theory, if you’re a good enough bluffer, you can have the worst hand at the table but still win, if you’ve been able to convince your opponents to fold. This is the main reason for the huge popularity in online poker.

Lastly, as you can see, video poker continues to evolve. What started out as a game for would-be poker players who were too intimidated to sit down at a real table, has, with the advent of Online Poker, come full circle. Today a poker player can sit down at a virtual table with players from around the world. Amazing…

The Deuces and Joker is a variety of video poker that is played in online casino websites. The Multi-hand version can be played with one or more hands, using a 53-card deck that is shuffled after each completed hand. The deuces (or the 2s) and the Joker are all acting as wild cards in the variety, in which they can be other cards in the deck, of any suit or rank, and can help in forming a powerful poker hand ranking. If you obtain one or more of these wild cards, the game will automatically assign a suit and value to it, and with the other cards in your hand, you can win the highest possible payout. Thus, it is a lot easier to create potential winning hands.

The buttons used in the Deuces and Joker is similar to any other variations of online video poker games. These include the Increase [+] and Decrease [-], BET ONE, DEAL, and BET MAX. In order to HOLD a card, you have to click the desired card to keep, or deselect any HELD card by clicking it again. The DRAW, REBET, COLLECT, and DOUBLE buttons are also present in this game. This video poker game also accepts 1 to 5 coins. The minimum coin value is $0.25 and the maximum coin value is $10. Thus, the amount of your wager can be from $0.25 up to $50.

Deuces and Joker Poker Hands and Payouts

Standard poker hand ranking system is used in the Deuces and Wild video poker, with some new ranks formed by using one or more wild cards. The lowest rank that will pay out is a Three of a Kind, and a unique new hand ranking is introduced in this version, which pays out the most, the 4 Deuces and a Joker (all 5 wild cards). The payouts depend on the hand ranking and the number of coins that you wagered. It is expressed as number of coins. This payout is multiplied by the coin value that you had wagered. For example, if the coin value you choose to wager is $10 and you wagered 5 coins, then you hit a Straight, your payout will be 10 coins, which is equivalent to $100 (from $10 x 10). Following are the payouts for each hand ranking, with reference to how many coins are wagered:

4 Deuces and a Joker: 5-coin wager – wins 10,000 coins

Royal Flush: 1-coin wager wins 250 coins; 2-coin wager wins 500 coins; 3-coin wager wins 750 coins; 4-coin wager wins 1,000 coins; 5-coin wager wins 4,000 coins.

4 Deuces: 1-coin wager wins 25 coins; 2-coin wager wins 50 coins; 3-coin wager wins 75 coins; 4-coin wager wins 100 coins; 5-coin wager wins 125 coins.

Wild Royal Flush (a Royal Flush that uses one or more wild cards): 1-coin wager wins 12 coins; 2-coin wager wins 24 coins; 3-coin wager wins 34 coins; 4-coin wager wins 48 coins; 5-coin wager wins 60 coins.

Five of a Kind (Four of a Kind plus a wild card): 1-coin wager wins 9 coins; 2-coin wager wins 18 coins; 3-coin wager wins 27 coins; 4-coin wager wins 36 coins; 5-coin wager wins 45 coins.

Straight: 1-coin wager wins 2 coins; 2-coin wager wins 4 coins; 3-coin wager wins 6 coins; 4-coin wager wins 8 coins; 5-coin wager wins 10 coins.

Three of a Kind: 1-coin wager wins 1 coins; 2-coin wager wins 2 coins; 3-coin wager wins 3 coins; 4-coin wager wins 4 coins; 5-coin wager wins 5 coins.
